LIVING ON A PRAYER...
My kids ask A LOT of questions. The other day my son asked my friend where babies come from. Not kidding! Her response was something along the lines of, “uh, you pray and ask God.” To which my daughter quipped, “Are you praying?” I guess I dodged that bullet. No more questions were asked.
Sometimes, we should be asking more questions about wine. It’s not about what I like, or what your friends like, and defiantly don’t pray for wine to appear. I’ve tried that! It’s about what YOU like. Do you like red or white? Do you like a smooth wine or something more earthy and gritty? Start asking yourself more questions. If you have a wine and you dislike it, figure out why.
One of my favorite whites, is a Burgundy. To the surprise of many it is a Chardonnay grape. Not the Chardonnay most people identify with. First instinct usually has people reaching for an oak driven California wine, but white Burgundy is a mineral driven, smooth, delicious wine. I was at a wine pairing dinner the other night with my sisters. Which really should be a comedy all around. The “sisters” are not the biggest white Burgundy fans, like myself. Heidi, is pretty much always up for a party, as in we should “rent” her out she is that much FUN. It wasn’t long before she knew everyone at our table and was getting the secret stash of wine! I should bring her along more often!

My favorite value for money would have to be the Cremant de Bourgogne Rose Brut, it is a perfect alternative to Champagne, 100% Pinot noir grapes with a fresh, crisp and stunning finish. With a price tag around $20.00, its perfect. It’s also pink and bubbly, which should make us all happy, and forgot the day of tantrums and endless whining.
The two whites were perfect, as they should be. Both wines were true to their terrior and lived up to my expectation of a solid Burgundy. The “Pot Bois” had notes of apricot and peaches opening up with more complex aromas and a bright acidity. The “grand Montage” was hands down my favorite, I could have drunk the bottle myself, but I was forced to share! Don’t worry, I snuck some of Heidi’s while she was to busy talking!
